The United Nations is today warning about the prospect of impending famines of ‘biblical proportions.’
The coronavirus pandemic has so far inflicted heavy damage on the world’s economy, as most economic activity has ground to a halt. This will push already impoverished nations into an even more dire situation over the coming months.
Conservative estimates say that around 820m worldwide experience food deprivation on a regular basis, and the UN is warning that a further 130m people might soon find themselves in a similar situation because of the pandemic.
