The Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney has said that parents will be given reassurances from the Government that the Covid-19 vaccine is safe for children.
Speaking to RTE, Coveney said that he expects a strong uptake in the 12 to 15 age group that will be offered a vaccine next month.
Coveney also said that although the decision will ultimately come down to parents and their children, he said by giving the vaccine to this age cohort it will provide greater protection in terms of transmission of the virus.
It is expected that the registration for vaccinations amongst the 12 to 15 year old cohort will be open next month.
