Coveney says Irish Government would consider invitation to Northern Ireland centenary service

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney has said that the Irish Government would consider an invitation to the Northern Ireland centenary service.

Speaking about President Higgins decision not to attend the event, Coveney said the Government has no input on the President’s decision.

Coveney said the President’s decision was entirely his own and his own judgement call which he himself respects.

He added that although the Irish Government has received no invitation, it would be given serious consideration if one should the Government receive one.
