Covid-19: Government hints that younger people in Ireland will be offered the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines

The Irish Government has hinted that younger people in Ireland will be offered the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar claimed, without any real reasoning behind it, that the Johnson & Johnson jab would be ‘very popular’ with people in their 40s.

It is notable that Denmark has banned the use of precisely these two vaccines because of reports of serious side effects. In a statement released by the country’s health authorities on May 3, they said that ‘the benefits of using the Covid-19 vaccine from Johnson & Johnson do not outweigh the risk of causing the possible adverse effect in those who receive the vaccine“.
