Covid-19: Irish Government gives itself power to extend lockdown measures beyond next year if they see fit

The Irish Government has given itself the power to extend lockdown measures beyond next year if they see fit.

The new deadline that had been set for February 22, 2022, is now likely to be greatly extended as the Government seeks to tighten its grip on the country.

The new power is expected to be signed into law in December.
