The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has recommended an urgent move to Level 5 lockdown for an extended period of time, as the coronavirus outbreak now completely out of control in Ireland.
The team met on Thursday evening, and it is understood that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan communicated with the Health Minister shortly afterwards.
The recommendation is for an immediate move to Level 5 restrictions nationwide, and to maintain the total lockdown for at least six weeks.
