The World Health Organisation, upon whose advice governments have been locking down their countries to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, has back tracked and is now backtracking and condemning the use of lockdowns.
Dr. David Nabarro from the WHO appealed to world leaders yesterday, telling them to stop “using lockdowns as your primary control method” of the Chinese virus.
Dr. Nabarro also said that the lockdowns were not having the desired effect of suppressing the coronavirus but rather were simply spreading and increasing poverty.
“Lockdowns just have one consequence that you must never ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer,” he said.
Dr, Nabarro went on to say:
“Look what’s happened to smallholder farmers all over the world. Look what’s happening to poverty levels. It seems that we may well have a doubling of world poverty by next year. We may well have at least a doubling of child malnutrition.”
In Ireland, frustration with the seemingly capricious and nonsensical decision making of the government in relation to lockdown measures is growing rapidly while Ireland’s economy looks like its set for a historic recession due to the lockdown with life altering effects for Irish citizens.
