Covid-19: R number falls to between 0.6 and 0.9 across the UK

The R number (the virus’ transmissibility rate) has reportedly fallen to between 0.6 and 0.9 across the UK.

This is the lowest range since the measurement began to be taken in May of 2020. Ideally, the number should remain below 1, at which point the virus is transmitted exponentially.

Health authorities say that the data is based on estimates up to February 15.
