The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has now included a severe neurological disorder as a known side effect of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.
Some 833 cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) have now been reported.
GBS might lead to neurological symptoms such as numbness and a tingling sensation, but in some cases, it can lead to full paralysis and become life-threatening.
Despite the risk of GBS and the already known risk of blood clotting, the jab continues to be administered across Ireland.
