Covid-19: Taoiseach calls a meeting with representatives of the hospitality industry to discuss the rapidly deteriorating coronavirus situation in Ireland

Taoiseach appointee Micheal Martin has called a meeting with representatives of the hospitality industry to discuss the rapidly deteriorating coronavirus situation in Ireland.

The meeting has been hastily convened in light of the Government’s utterly bizarre and ineffective rules to control the outbreak.

Government guidelines for nightclubs for example suggest that people will be safe from infection if they purchase a ticket at least 60 minutes before attending the club, and that continuous dancing inside will keep punters free from coronavirus. In the Government’s view, dance floors are ‘safe areas’ that viruses have no access to.

Also, it is the Irish Government’s opinion that people will remain infection-free inside music venues as long as they keep standing at all times. Sitting down on the chair beside them would immediately put them at dire risk of infection.

Equally, ministers have come to believe that firmly clutching a digital Covid cert on a mobile phone close to a person’s body will banish any viruses.
