Two people in Washington have reportedly tested positive for the mutant coronavirus strain first reported in the UK.
The VUI-202012/01 strain emerged in the UK a few weeks ago. This strain is associated with up to 70% more transmissibility and might be up to 30% deadlier, though there is still no hard evidence about the latter.
