Jacob Trembley has scooped the Best Young Actor/Actress Award at this year’s Critics Choice Awards.

The 9-year-old actor won the award for his spectacular performance in Irish director Lenny Abrahamson’s new drama “Room”, adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue.

Trembley stepped up to the stage to accept his award, with presenter Bradley James holding the microphone up for him.

“This is super cool. This is the best day of my life”, Trembley declared to the audience.

“I first want to say thank you to all the critics who voted for me. It must be a super hard vote because of all the other great actors in this category,” he said.

“I also want to thank ‘Team Room’ who is Lenny, Emma, Brie and all the other producers over there and all the other cast and crew.”

Trembley proceeded to thank all who worked on the film with him, as well as his parents for helping him on his journey to success.

“I think that us working together made this movie come true. This award doesn’t just go to me for that it goes to all you other guys as well.

“I also want to thank my parents and I love them very much. And I know where to put this – right beside my Millennium Falcon.”
