Dublin Airport authorities considering a second runway as passenger numbers hit record high last year

25 million passengers passed through Dublin Airport in 2015, easily toppling the previous record number, 23.5m, achieved back in 2008.

New routes beginning this year, such as seasonal services to the Caribbean and Mexico, as well as Aer Lingus services to Los Angeles, and to Hartford, Connecticut, will mean that passengers number may increase again.

Such steady growth has now prompted airport authorities into the possibility of building a second runway.
