“Too little, too late” is how one victim of a soldier’s attack put his termination from the Defence Forces, reports RTE.
A minute before midnight is when Cathal Crotty is scheduled to be released from the Defence Forces.
In a random incident in Limerick city on May 29, 2022, the 22-year-old resident of Parkroe Heights, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare, beat Natasha O’Brien unconscious and received a three-year suspended sentence.
Ms. O’Brien said RTÉ News in response to the news of his termination, saying: “This is the bare minimum; it should be standard procedure but it is not,” reports RTE.

“What about all the other victims who have to watch their attacker continue to serve? What is the Tánaiste Micheál Martin doing about this,” she said, reports RTE.
At first, Crotty attempted to accuse Ms. O’Brien of being the one who started the attack.
On social media, he boasted to pals about the attack.
At Limerick Circuit Criminal Court, he entered a guilty plea after seeing CCTV evidence.
The suspended sentence was deemed “not justice” by Ms. O’Brien, reports RTE.
She got a standing ovation in the Dáil and there were rallies around the country as a result.
The sentence was deemed too mild, leading the Director of Public Prosecutions to file an appeal.
The appeal’s announcement had been hailed by Ms. O’Brien as a “step forward”.”What is the Tánaiste Micheál Martin doing about this,” she said, reports RTE.
