Denmark has announced plans to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 jets, and will donate a number of aircraft afterwards.
The training program will also include maintenance procedures.
Ukraine urgently needs fighter jets to attain air superiority over the battlefield, particularly now that the decisive counter-offensive is underway. Russia does have numerical advantage in terms of aircraft, but Ukrainian operators have been supplied with sophisticated air defence capabilities to balance the odds.
