As Ireland prepared for Storm Eowyn, more than a million people received an emergency notice on their phones tonight. The Red Alert storm had the potential to be exceedingly devastating and is being classified as a multi-hazard event, reports The Mirror.
Over 180 km/h of severe and destructive winds caused havoc overnight and on Friday.
People had been advised by the National Emergency Coordination Group to remain at home, schools should be closed, and commuters should avoid going to work until after the storm has passed, which is probably going to happen on Friday night, reports The Mirror.
