Disgraceful: 29% of households in Ireland are now in fuel or energy poverty

Many people say that they can’t afford to heat their home as a result of the disgraceful prices being seen in home heating fuels and fuels at the pumps.

On average, households are spending a minimum of €21 a week more than they were this time last year on home heating along with predictions that it could go up as far as €40 a week more than this time last year.

All of that is excluding the fuels people are paying for when they arrive at filling stations where prices seem to be completely out of all control, or at least control that the government don’t seem to want to bother changing by lowing fuel tax.

Some 550,000 households around the country are affected by the the fuel and energy price hikes.
