An investigation is underway after The Holy Year Cross outside Clonmel was vandalised earlier this week.
It is understood that a number of locals have been left outraged after a number of swastikas were spray painted by vandals at the iconic site.
According committee members it is believed that the cross, the oratory and pillars were spray painted with the symbols between the hours of 3pm and 6pm on Tuesday.
Although a clean up effort is underway, locals have been left angered as the act had occurred just days before the Holy Year Cross mass which is scheduled to be held on Monday 5th of August.
It is believed that Gardaí have been made aware of the incident and an investigation is currently ongoing.
