A teenager who campaigns against damage to the environment has announced that she will not fly from Europe to the US to attend conferences on the climate. Instead, she will take the journey by boat to reduce the damage caused to the environment by flying.
Greta Thunberg has attracted considerable attention from her efforts to highlight the harm that climate damage could cause to the planet and has even met Pope Francis to discuss the problem.
According to Sky News, she has now decided to take her beliefs even further, refusing to fly to the US for essential climate conferences. While trying to find an alternative means of transport, she has been offered the use of a luxury yacht which is owned by a member of the royal family in Monaco.
The yacht is said to have been fitted with special equipment which makes it more eco-friendly than travelling by air. But it is also reported that Greta does not have a difficulty with others travelling to the conferences by air, she simply wants air travel to be made kinder to the environment.
While it is said that she plans to take a year off school to work harder on her efforts, the 16-year-old refuses to get annoyed or disturbed at comments by those who say that climate change is not something that should cause so much concern.
