Madison Square Garden in New York is sometimes referred to be the “world’s most famous arena”.
For musicians, performing at “the Garden,” as it’s called informally, is a sign that they’ve finally made it.
Of course, it’s more than simply music.
It has hosted historic athletic events, such as the 1971 championship boxing battle between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, which was nicknamed the “Fight of the Century.”
Then there is the political aspect.
In 1962, Marilyn Monroe sang her breathy version of “Happy Birthday” to then-President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden, although it had previously been across the street.
In the past, it held an occasion that visitors to the famous location in New York would probably rather forget.
Before his rally at the Garden this afternoon, Donald Trump’s detractors have made a point of bringing up that notorious incident.
“President Franklin Roosevelt was appalled that neo-Nazis, fascists in America were lining up to essentially pledge their support for the kind of government that they were seeing in Germany,” Hillary Clinton who lost the 2016 election to Donald Trump told CNN, reports RTE.
“I don’t think we can ignore it,” she said, adding “please open your eyes to the danger that this man poses to our country because I think it is clear and present for anybody paying attention,” reports RTE.
Donald Trump held an incredible rally at the iconic arena on Sunday night to a sold out crowd.
It now looks likely that Trump is in pole position to retake the White House next week.
