Donnelly refuses to rule out scenario where over 50s will be asked to wait until June to get Covid-19 vaccine

The Minister for Stephen Donnelly has refused to rule out a scenario where the over 50s will be asked to wait until June before they get their Covid-19 vaccine.

Speaking to RTE’s Prime Time programme, Donnelly said the situation is always changing when it comes to vaccines and it will be reviewed in two weeks time.

Donnelly”s comments came after he was asked would the 50 to 59 age group would be required to wait given the low supply of Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

Although Donnelly didn’t refuse the possibility of such a scenario occurring, he did say that he is in constant engagements with the Department of Health, NIAC and the vaccine taskforce on regular basis.

He went on to say that the advice keeps getting updated by NIAC as the evidence comes in.
