In serious trouble: Arlene Foster’s DUP leadership looks likely to be coming to an end

It’s looking as though Arlene Foster’s leadership of the Democratic Unionist Party is quickly coming to an end.

Out of nowhere, 75% of the party’s Assembly members have  signed a letter calling for a leadership contest.

There are also calls for Ms Foster to step down before such a contest takes place. A major reason for the upheaval is Ms Foster’s dealing of the Brexit debacle which has effectively seen a border going down the Irish sea.

According to The Belfast Newsletter, the DUP could be replaced as party members have expressed their concerns over Foster’s handling of the Northern Ireland protocol.

Although Foster played down reports of a leadership contest earlier today, she could potentially face a challenge as party members feel that she should have taken a tougher stance on the Irish Sea border following Brexit.
