“Don’t set foot in Ulster” – “Hate crime” graffiti targeting Leo Varadkar removed from shop wall in Belfast

A wall outside a local Spar shop has been vandalised with “hate crime” graffiti targeting Leo Varadkar, reports MSN.

The vandals used threatening language in a rhyming style and said “we guarantee that you will hang” if he “set foot in Ulster”. The graffiti has now been removed.

The threat seems to be linked to Brexit and the Northern Ireland Protocol which adds new checks on goods arriving at Northern Irish ports from Great Britain.

Leader of Sinn Fein in the North, Michelle O’Neill tweeted “Shocked at the disgusting graffiti targeting Leo Varadkar which I condemn, as will the majority of people across the community. This is a hate crime motivated by prejudice. It’s also criminal damage and anyone with information should contact police who must investigate.”
