Driver of the second vehicle involved in a tragic head-on collision in Co. Limerick may have suffered a heart attack at the wheel




The driver of one of the vehicles involved in a head-on collision that killed three people in Co. Limerick on Thursday evening may have suffered a heart attack, authorities say.

It is believed that the driver, an elderly woman, fell ill while driving and the car veered straight onto the path of an oncoming vehicle carrying also three elderly ladies. Three people died in the resulting crash, including the driver who fell ill, and the driver and front seat passenger of the second car. A second passenger was taken to hospital with two broken legs.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact Newcastle West Garda Station on 069-20650, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
