The hearing is related to bus driver pay is due to take place, 18 months after the pay claim was made to Dublin Bus.

Drivers are seeking parity with Luas drivers in the city, who have recently secured pay increases.

According to Unions there is a €9,000 gap in pay eligible to be used in pension funds between Dublin Bus drivers and their Luas counterparts.

Dermot O’ Leary of the National Bus and Rail Union spoke of this court hearing being “of last resort” and that all they were seeking was a minimal increase in pay.

The bus company reported a €12m profit in 2015.

Dublin Bus themselves stated that the company is in talks with the Trade Unions regarding pay claims.
