
The number of visitors arriving in Ireland this February dropped by 30% compared to the same period last year, according to new data from the Central Statistics Office, reports RTE.
The CSO reported that 304,300 foreign visitors traveled to Ireland last month, a decrease from 433,300 in February of the previous year.
January also saw a significant decline, with visitor numbers falling by 25% to 338,900, compared to 451,900 in January of last year, reports RTE.

In total, visitors last month spent 1.8 million nights in Ireland, representing a 33% decrease compared to February 2024.
Their average stay was 5.9 nights, down from 6.2 nights during the same month last year.
According to today’s CSO report, visitors spent €195.6 million on their trips, marking a 31% reduction from February 2024, reports RTE.
The average cost of their trips, excluding fares, was €643 in February 2025, slightly lower than the €655 recorded in February last year.
The CSO noted that the largest share of visitors came from Britain, making up 49% of the total, followed by the US, which accounted for 10%, reports RTE.
The most common reason for visiting Ireland was to see family or friends, with 37% of travelers citing this as their primary purpose.
More visitors chose to stay in their own property or with family and friends (44%) than in any other type of accommodation, the report also highlighted, reports RTE.
