Dublin is safe, Helen? Young tourist hospitalised after being badly beaten up in Dublin




After a horrifying incident in Dublin early last week that left a young visitor hospitalised, Gardaí have issued a call for witnesses, reports The Mirror.

The horrific attack happened on Friday, June 7, just after 1.30 am, in the capital’s Smithfield Square. A 19-yr-old man was taken in for immediate treatment at Mater Hospital for non-life-threatening wounds.

Thankfully, the teenager was eventually released from custody, and Gardaí indicated that their investigation into the incident is still ongoing while also releasing a call for witnesses, reports The Mirror.

The young Welshman was allegedly struck in the face with a weapon during the incident, according to multiple media sources.

“Gardaí at Bridewell Garda Station are appealing for witnesses following the assault of a young man in Smithfield, Dublin, on Friday, June 7,” a Garda spokesperson said, reports The Mirror.

“Gardaí responded to reports of an assault at Smithfield Square, Dublin 7, shortly after 1.30am on June 7. A 19-year-old male was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was later discharged. A technical examination of the scene has been carried out, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing,” reports The Mirror.
