A Dublin man has been jailed for three years after he was found guilty of dumping the body of his friend in a water-filled ditch near Dublin Airport.

Alan Harte from Claireville Grove, Glasnevin was acquitted of murdering Peter Gunn but he was found guilty of impeding the prosecution.

Mr Harte had taken to the stand during his murder trial which was held April, where he admitted helping to get rid of Peter’s body, but denied murdering him.

Mr Gunn’s (28) remains were found 11 days after he was stabbed inside a flat in Cabra Park on Jan 4, 2009.

Mr Harte told the court that he was innocent and accused an Albanian Kastriot Boza a friend of his of killing him after being insulted by the victim earlier that night.

Mr. Boza denied Mr Harte’s accusation and told the court that Mr. Harte stabbed Mr Gunn after he made some remarks about his uncle.

The jury have found the accused not guilty of murder but guilty of impeding the prosecution and he was sentenced to six years in jail, with the final three years suspended.
