Dublin shooting linked to gangland crime, victim was ‘under killers’ surveillance’

drumcondra-shooting-390x285A man who was shot dead in Dublin yesterday was reportedly under the surveillance of his killers.

At 11:30 am yesterday morning Paul Kavanagh was shot dead as he sat in his car on Church Avenue, Drumcondra.

Kavanagh was said to be in his late twenties and has two young children.

Gardaí believe he was ambushed in a well-planned attack by killers who had him under surveillance at the rented house he shared with his partner and children.

It is also believed his killing is linked to gangland crime.

The shooters used an Audi A3 as their getaway vehicle before crashing it into a wall a mere 100 meters away.

Two people were seen running from the scene in the direction of Tolka Park and back in towards the city centre.

Superintendent Finbarr Murphy of Ballymun garda station said they were not yet sure how many people were involved in the murder.

“There may be more than two people involved. We don’t know at his stage,” he said.
