Mandate union representatives are today claiming that management at the retail chain are allegedly trying to intimidate staff, in an effort to dissuade them from going ahead with the planned stoppage on Holy Thursday

The union has written to all its members advising them to ignore all ‘lies and misinformation’ in the days before a planned work stoppage across all 109 Dunnes outlets next Thursday.

The plan is for staff to place pickets on Holy Thursday. This day has been chosen for maximum effect, as it is the day before Good Friday. Holy Thursday is traditionally a day of high alcohol sales.

The row centers around low-hour contracts, pay, and conditions.

According to the union, some staff are being called into ‘communication meetings’ with the company, where veiled threats and intimidation are allegedly issued.
