Dublin Zoo has officially opened its new state of the art attraction, Sea Lion Cove.
The newly built attraction was officially opened by President Michael D Higgins recently. The newly built habitat will be the new home of the zoo’s current colony of California sea lions, which include three females named, Cassie, Florence and Seanna, and one male, named Nico. Dublin Zoo hope that new enclosure will provide more space for the colony to grow over the coming years.
The new facility the biggest build undertaken by the Zoo has opened just 9 months after construction began last September. The new facility was constructed on the site of a former lake and contains a top of the range filtering system.
Dublin Zoo say visitors will now be able to see the sea lions swimming underwater in the deep saltwater pool.
