Two persons perished in a home fire that happened overnight in the Swinford, County Mayo region, shocking the whole community, reports RTE.
At approximately two in the morning today morning, emergency services received a call about a fire at a two-story detached property in the Deerpark neighbourhood on the outskirts of Swinford.
It is believed that the neighbor’s dog grew nervous and began barking, which is why the alarm was set off.
The fire spread fast after gaining control of the premises, reports RTE.
The fire claimed the lives of the two residents.
They have been identified locally as Tom and Eileen Mahon, two well-liked members of the town who ran a renowned Swinford flooring and furniture company.
It’s thought that they were the only people living in the residence at this point, reports RTE.
