Elderly cyclist killed in early morning road collision

An elderly cyclist sadly lost his life this morning after being involved in a collision with a car.

The accident happened near the coastal village of Lehinch, in Co. Clare, at around 9:30am. A car travelling on the N65 Borrisokane to Portumna road collided with a 72-year-old cyclist.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was removed to University Hospital Limerick.

The 51-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the car sustained no injuries.
