Election 2016: Rumours are rife Enda Kenny is going to resign as Fine Gael leader

Rumours are rife this morning that the Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny is going to resign his position.

Fine Gael are currently looking at returning 26% of seats – far less than they need for an overall majority or even a decent position to form a new government.

Fianna Fail have over-performed to a degree and are looking at returning 22% of seats. Meanwhile Labour are going to practically disappear with 7% of seats looking an absolute maximum.

Rumours are circulating in the Fine Gael ranks this morning that Kenny is about to resign his leadership after a terribly poor campaign and basically bad result for Fine Gael.

A number of average election debates from Kenny made no difference to Fine Gael’s polling percentage. As a result of today, many Fine Gael supporters are saying Kenny has already said he is going to resign.
