Well, it’s official. The water charges are here to stay. Whether people actually pay them or not, it’s another story.
The energy regulator body has officially approved the new ‘reduced’ regime of water charges, actually nine weeks after the meters started ticking.
As it stands today, the charges are €160 a year for homes with one adult, and €260 a year for all others.
But in the Dáil today, Fianna Fáil has called on the government to delay the first bills until the results of a major EU test become known.
