EU officials have today officially granted a ‘flexible’ three-month extension for Brexit.
The new date is now set for January 31, 2020, but the UK can leave the EU early if a reach is agreed prior to the deadline, hence the ‘flexible’ tag.
The new delay means a humiliating climbdown for Boris Johnson, who had previously gone on record to say that the UK would be leaving the EU on October 31 ‘no ifs or buts’.
