In what many people are describing as an utterly catastrophic disaster for rural Ireland, the Green Party’s Eamon Ryan is the new Transport and Climate Minister.
Ryan appears to be hell-bent on implementing more and more bike lanes and increasing tax on fuels such as petrol, diesel and coal.
Many people believe it’s not inconceivable that the new government won’t last “kicking time” before it falls due to the uproar that will ensue once such taxes were due to be introduced.
Others, including many rural communities, feel that Ryan’s policies would be absolutely disastrous for Ireland’s rural community in particular and would cause traffic chaos in cities.
