Face off: Johnson and Varadkar say Peace on the island of Ireland is essential during Brexit talks in Dublin

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar today in Dublin.

The two unelected men spoke directly towards each other but from different angles.

Varadkar said that Irish businesses need long term certainty and that people both North and South need to know their livelihood isn’t put at threat from Brexit.

There was a strong emphasis on peace with the backstop at the core of the conversation unless there’s a workable alternative.

Johnson said for the sake of business and millions or ordinary people, he said that he’d overwhelmingly want to find an agreement.

He said that their predecessors had to tackle far harder problems and that he believes a deal can be made before October 18.
