Facebook to get rid of those annoying Candy Crush invites

Candy Crush

We’ve all had to deal with the annoyance of getting a Facebook notification ad checking it only to discover that it is yet another Candy Crush invitation. Well despair no more! Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that this will soon be a thing of the past.

Taking part in a town hall Q&A session in India, Zuckerberg revealed that Facebook will look at shutting down tools that let people send invites to friends. The top question was “How can I stop getting Candy Crush invites?”

Zuckerberg said that he immediately sent a message to the person in charge of the developer platform to get rid of this issue. “I sent a message to the person who is in the developer team to get rid of this issue. There are some tools that are outdated which let people send people invites. We hadn’t prioritised shutting it down. But, we are doing it now.”

Facebook are also set to get rid of the ‘other’ folder for messages. As it is only accessible through Facebook’s site, many people miss messages from people who they are not friends with. This will be replaced with Message Requests for Messenger. If someone you are not friends with sends you a message, you will get a message request. You can either accept or ignore it and those sending the message won’t know if you’re read it or not.
