Failte! Almost 500,000 visitors came to Ireland in January 2024




In January 2024, 451,900 international tourists arrived in Ireland overall, reports Breaking News.

In January 2024, out of the 451,900 international tourists that left Ireland for foreign destinations, 42.3% were from the United States, 11.1% were from Great Britain, and 5.8% were from Germany.

Visits with family and friends accounted for 46.8% of the tourists’ reasons for travelling to Ireland, reports Breaking News.

A total of 3,813,800 nights were spent in the nation by the guests.

It is anticipated that international tourists to Ireland spent a total of €414.1 million. The guests stayed 8.4 nights on average and travelled for €916 on average.

Gregg Patrick, a statistician at the Division of Tourism and Travel, commented on the announcement, saying: “The results show that among the 1,281,700 passengers departing Ireland on overseas routes in January 2024, some 451,900 (35.3 per cent) were foreign visitors completing their trips (with the balance being Irish residents heading abroad (56.3 per cent) and foreign same-day visitors (8.5 per cent),” reports Breaking News.

“Amongst the 451,900 foreign visitors, some 42.3 per cent were from Great Britain, 11.1 per cent were from the United States, and 5.8 per cent were from Germany. Typically, their visit lasted 8.4 nights. Their most frequent reason was for visiting friends and family (46.8 per cent),” he added, reports Breaking News.
