Farcical: Labour Party is serious about entering government, claims Bacik

The Labour Party’s leader has said that her organisation is committed to joining the upcoming administration, reports RTE.

Ivana Bacik, speaking as the party assembled in Malahide, Dublin, today, predicted that a general election will occur soon.

Deputy Bacik stated that Labour intends to collaborate with other climate-focused and centre-left parties to establish “a critical mass” following the election.

She said, “After the election, it would be a positive step to collaborate with others who share the party’s vision,” reports RTE.

“We want to deliver change for communities, for people that we represent, for communities that are crying out for more homes, for the people facing eviction that I meet every week, facing eviction for whom the tenant in situ scheme is simply not working,” Ms Bacik stated.

The head of Labour reaffirmed that Tipperary TD Alan Kelly, who held the position before her, will “absolutely” run in the next election, reports RTE.

She explained that he has been working on a campaign to stop the relocation of thirty asylum seekers from Borrisokane, where they have been residing for some time, thus he was unable to attend the meeting today.

The party has before demanded that the Budget include more money to address child homelessness.

Its parliamentary party and candidates for the next general election are present at the conference today to talk about Labour’s key policies and its goals in the event that it is voted to power, reports RTE.
