A south Co Galway farmer who threw a bag of Cow dung at Minister of State Ann Rabbitt during a public meeting has been charged with assaulting a Fianna Fáil MP, reports RTE.
Joseph Baldwin, aged 38, of Ballianin, Gort, will stand trial at Gort District Court accused of assaulting Miss Rabbit on January 4 during a public meeting at Sullivan’s Royal Hotel in Gort.
The assault charge against Mr Baldwin contravenes section 2 of the Non-Fatal Offenses Act, reports RTE.
Galway East TD and Minister of State for Health and Minister of State for Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion and Youth, Deputy Ann Rabbitt attended the meeting to hear residents’ concerns about the planned biogas plant in Gort.
