Farmers reportedly to hold further blockades in Cork today

Farmers are said to be considering holding blockades in Cork today following their large blockade of an Aldi distribution plant in Kildare on Thursday, RTE reports.

A group of farmers created a blockade outside Aldi’s largest distribution centre in Ireland yesterday, over what they perceive as ‘unfair’ beef prices. Farmers also say that retailers such as Aldi are bringing down food prices even more, exacerbating the beef crisis.

According to farmers, beef prices here are out of line with those in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

The protest in Naas lasted for around 15 hours.
