Fianna Fail to meet Fine Gael this week in a bid to prevent Sinn Fein from getting into government

The two big buck parties are planning on meeting this week in what has been described as a direct hit on Sinn Fein to prevent them from getting into government.

It’s understood that Fianna Fail are pushing for the meeting with Fine Gael somewhat having cold feet about the proposition of a coalition or reverse supply and demand agreement – nonetheless, the day-long meeting is to go ahead this week.

Housing, climate change, health and cost of living are on the agenda for the day to form a possible government coalition.

Both leaders, Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin both agreed to meet again after this initial meeting. It’s certainly a very interesting developing. Next Thursday’s Dail sitting will not have a vote on Taoiseach as last week was far too fruitless.

It’s looking increasingly likely that there could well be a government coalition between Fianna Fail and Fine Geal.

Micheal Martin said that it was Fianna Fail’s best option is to move into talks with Fine Gael. However, Fine Gael said after a parliamentary party meeting and Varadkar said that he intends to lead his party into opposition with little movement for a policy for government.
