
Regarding a High Court case when one of the party’s senators, John McGahon, was forced to compensate a man €39,000 after a late-night attack outside a Co Louth bar, Fine Gael stated that it would be premature to comment, reports RTE.
“Party Headquarters is aware of this case and is monitoring it,” a Fine Gael spokeswoman stated. It would be premature to make any more comments until after the conclusion of all legal processes.”
On June 16, 2018, Breen White, a farmer from Castleblayney, County Monaghan, filed a lawsuit against Mr. McGahon in the High Court, alleging assault and battery outside the Rum House bar in Dundalk, reports RTE.
Following the event, Mr. McGahon was elected to the Seanad.
Rejecting the accusations, he said he was attacked and reacted in self-defense, reports RTE.
