
The Dáil will rose last evening for its summer recess until the middle of September.
The Government faces several key decisions in the interim, including around fuel prices and the Aughinish Alumina plant in Co Limerick, reports RTE.
The break comes after an at times turbulent first half of the year for TDs, with April’s fuel protests and blockades bringing several parts of the country to a standstill.
The Coalition and Opposition will continue to monitor fuel prices, with excise cuts due to be unwound from September, reports RTE.
The Department of Enterprise is also due to present a report on the Aughinish Alumina plant in Co Limerick and what materials may or may not be finding their way into Russia’s military supply chain.
Preparations for October’s Budget are also likely to take shape over the coming weeks, with several ministers also managing the demands of Ireland hosting the EU Presidency, reports RTE.
The Coalition is finalising its Summer Economic Statement for publication next week.
The Dáil will return on Wednesday 17 September, reports RTE.
