Fine Gael TD Hildegarde Naughton has been promoted to full Cabinet minister, taking the role of Minister for Education and Youth in a government reshuffle triggered by Paschal Donohoe’s resignation.
Donohoe stepped down as Minister for Finance to become Managing Director at the World Bank. Tánaiste Simon Harris moves to Finance, Helen McEntee shifts to Foreign Affairs and Defence, paving the way for Naughton’s elevation from Minister of State for Disability.
President CatherineWe’re Connolly formally appointed Naughton at Áras an Uachtaráin today, marking her first senior Cabinet post. The Galway West TD, a former teacher, brings prior departmental experience.
