Minister of State Josepha Madigan, a Fine Gael TD was accused of “interfering” with regards to her call for The KerryMan newspaper to change it’s name to make it more gender inclusive.
According to RTE 1 morning programme, Today with Claire Byrne , Minister of State Josepha Madigan, a Fine Gael TD for the South Dublin Rathdown constituency is on a crusade to remove “unconscious bias” from Irish society and even went as far to call for a Citizens Assembly to study this issue.
But Siobhan Murphy, the female CEO of the Kerryman newspaper was having none of it, saying any change of name should be up to the company decision rather than “outsiders interfering.”
On the same radio programme, Independent TD for Kerry, Michael Healy Rae told RTE listeners that this is political correctness gone mad and that we’re in the middle of a global pandemic. He asked should we call a MANhole and PERSONShole?
