An investigation is underway after a firefighter was hospitalised following an attack in Cork on Monday night.
According to Red FM, the firefighter was taken to hospital following an incident at Spring Lane halting site.
It is understood the man was hit with a rock on the leg during the incident which occurred at approximately 11:45pm.
The incident apparently occurred when fire crews attended the scene for the second time on the night following a previous report of a bonfire in the area.
