Professional surfer who was attacked by shark suffers serious injuries to arm but goes to bar instead of hospital

A surfer who was attacked by a shark and received serious injuries went to a bar to boast about his experience instead of to a hospital where his injuries could be treated.

According to the Daily Mail, 23-year-old Frank O’Rourke was attacked by the shark at Jacksonville Beach off the coast of Florida. A professional surfer, he told the Mail that he is used to being in the water with sharks but is also used to seeing them swimming around and doing their own thing.

On the day in question, however, one shark changed its mind and attacked O’Rourke. The shark bit his arm and thrashed him around in the water before releasing O’Rourke and swimming away.

While O’Rourke accepted that he was lucky to still have his arm, he decided not to go a hospital. Instead, he decided to take up a friend’s offer of a drink in a nearby bar. There, he showed off his badly bitten bar where the teethmarks of the shark could still be seen.

Many people would have gone straight to hospital after a shark attack but for O’Rourke, a chat about what had happened seems to have been a better idea.
